What do you get when you jump in a car with your buddy and head down the South Coast for a few days?? A long weekend full of talented creatives in and out of the water, sharing ideas and stories and learning and growing together.

Mitch and I signed up with the talented crew at Vagabond in late 2018 as Creative Guides. We will be running workshops throughout the year, helping people learn more about the theory and craft of landscape photography. The Escape and Create Workshop was our first with Vagabond, and it was a great way to start! We joined forces with some of the most talented ocean, landscape and travel photographers around, to show guests the beauty of Burril Lakes on the South Coast of NSW.

There is something about camping that not only brings people together, but that also brings each person closer to the environment around them. The closer you are, the more you see… and the more you see, the better story you can tell. Shannon Glasson and Warren Keelan led the water lovers; Amber, Keenan (and Coco and Indigo!) helped people understand the importance of visual storytelling; and, Mitch and I challenged everyone to find the light on the land.

It has been a while since I was behind the camera… and a while since I ran a workshop. But teaching and shooting are two of my greatest joys in life - and spending time with the big smiles, full hearts and wild souls over the four days down the Coast was restorative and inspiring.
